The Situation

Past

Data Centers and their accompanying Power Plants are a proven detriment to people's health. Hood County has already seen the effects of the Wolf Hollow Power Plant combined with the MARA Mining Facility / Data Center.

Present

Hood County currently has multiple Data Center and Power Plant Developers trying to purchase land in our community. Most Counties do not have a fighting chance against Big Tech as regulations outside of municipal areas are minimal. However, Hood County is protected through Subchapter K of the Texas Local Government Code.

Future

We will be working with government officials to draft a regulation that makes future data center and power plant developments impossible in Hood County to the benefit of all current and future Hood County Residents.

Ladies and gentlemen, The current situation concerning a planned power plant and data center development directly across the Brazos River from Pecan, known as the Pacifico Fort Spunky Development should be the single largest concern of every resident and every board member of this community as it relates to the future flourishment of Pecan. Pecan Residents named to Development Commission

Matt Long, a resident of Pecan Plantation was named to the 4-Person Development Commission chaired by another Pecan Resident, County Clerk Christine Leftwich. This bodes well for Pecan as they will be well represented in the fight against the Data Centers at the County Level. The first meeting of the Hood County Development Commission will take place on December 30. All meeting will be subject to the Open Meetings Act and will be livestreamed. More to come on this front.
